RCPB Sponsored LMCC Winter Series Finals

Posted by Bold Apps on

Sunday 12th March saw the final round of the Ledbury Model Car Club winter series sponsored by RC-Pitbox.

The day started out dry with a field of 46 drivers and Mini Pins were the order of the day on their Astro Track. This being the last round of the series with 4 rounds to count required to complete the series the championship was alive right until the end of the day’s finals, and it would certainly be a battle until the end!

In Qualifying HB/Bullet Combo driver Nathan Powney took overall TQ with a TQ in rounds 3 and 4  ahead of Ben Billing and his MX powered Kyosho 2nd  with a TQ in rounds 1 and 2 and TLR’s Chris Leighton would line up 3rd.

The Finals were all 15 minutes and we saw some great battles on track, the E Final was taken by Jnr driver Ethan Abbott for the bump up ahead of AE man Darren Crutchley.  In the D Final we saw the Mugen of Clinton Dredge and the Kyosho of Aaron Knight with the bump ups. In the C final it was Colin Court taking the win and also bumping up through the B Final to make it into the A Main but just ahead of him was Huw Jenkins taking the win with his newly built TLR 4.0.

Onto the A final and the decider of the series! With Nathan Taking TQ he would have to win and Chris take a poor score for him to win the series, unfortunately for Nathan upon taking to the start he had a fault with the clutch and started from the pit lane, he went onto get all the way upto to fight for 3rd in the final only to retire with clutch failure. This gave Chris Leighton and Ben Billing a fair fight ahead with Chris leading towards the end only to fall short on fuel on the remaining Lap leaving Ben Billing to the win, Agama man Rob West in 2nd and Chris finishing up in 3rd.  Great racing by all the guys in the finals, and a thrilling end to the A main!

With the 3rd place finish of Chris Leighton he had enough points to clinch the series win with Nathan Powney finishing 2nd overall and Stuart Harlow 3rd.

Thank-you for the great level of attendance throughout this wet season of racing over the winter months! Hope you all had a great Series!
