Felix De Hamel at the 1/10th Off Road Euros and more from the RCPB Team

Posted by Jules exall on

Last week was the 1/10th Off Road Euros in Spain and RCPB driver Felix De Hamel and his Schumacher cars were lucky enough to be one of the BRCA entries for Team GB - Pictured above. He would compete in both 2wd and 4wd at the championships, held at Valladolid on the 1/8th Dirt track. The track looked amazing and all the cars coped well on the fantastic features. First was 2wd and Felix despite missing some of practice due to being unwell made a mightily impressive start, he had a 38th in round (see below).

He continued his great qualifying ending up 48th overall. In his final he had a great start and took some places ending up 3rd as the buzzer sounded so finishing 43rd overall! Very impressive driving, but this was not the end 4wd began straight after 2wd finished. He ended up 52nd after a much tougher qualifying session. This meant he would line up in the F final alongside some truly great drivers. He went on to finish 6th and 56th overall which is a fantastic achievement for the young driver. We look forward to many more Euros for Felix in the years to come.

On the weekend we had NitroXcross again rounds 11 on Saturday and it was at a brand new venue, JC Raceway is a joint venture between the previous Frankley Model car cub and JC Racing Products. The new track would mean an even playing field in a full line up of racers. The track looked fantastic after only a few weeks work, well done to all who helped! (track pictured below)

In E Buggy we had Chris Lovell and his RC Concept powered Mugen, he qualified 3rd. He had a very good run in his final on the tricky track and managed to gain a place and finished 2nd.

In Nitro we had Si Davies, Gary Gregory, Milan Dragojlovic, Steve Shakespeare and Matt Box. Si Davies had some very decent runs and qualified 42nd from over 60 drivers. Gary and his new ride the Kyosho MP9 were on fire and qualified a very impressive 18th. Matt managed a couple of top 10 finishes and as a result made 10th place his own, Steve despite missing 2 rounds of qualifying got 7th and Milan 3rd. All 3 of their Kyosho’s handling the bumpy track amazingly well and all getting in the A final.

Si Davies and his Radiosistemi RR8 would start 8th in the D final, he had a fantastic start, getting up into the leading 3 cars, at times even taking the lead. He drove brilliantly, bringing his car home in 3rd and a bump to the C Final. He had another good start from the back of the pack, and came home 11th. A great days racing for Si!

Gary was up next in the B final, he got caught up at the start and was at the back of the pack but his pace with the Ielasi tuned powered Kyosho  got him back up to 7th. Steve, Matt and Milan were up in the A. Matt ended up 13th, Steve 10th but Milan battled for the lead. He and the other 2 leading cars shot away from the pack pulling out a lead, and after some great and consistent driving he pulled off a superb win by 20 seconds. Another win for Team RCPB and Milan!

On Sunday we had new team member Nathen Powney with his brand new Bullet powered TLR car, and Andy Prosser ad his Bullett Powered Sworkz and AE driver Jon Griffiths join us.

Chris and his Mugen MBX7r Eco were back in fine form and he got the TQ with 3 firsts in round. He also pulled off the win, after losing the lead in the middle part of the race he got it back and went on to win by over 20s. Another great drive by the Mugen man.

Si Davies had another good day with his RR8, he got 37th and Andy got 49th. Gary managed 24th, Nath 16th, Jon 15th and once again the kyosho drivers Milan, Matt and Steve made the A, with Matt 8th, Steve 7th and Milan 3rd. Andy started 9th in the E final, he had an amazing start and wound up 2nd after 2 laps, he battled hard and came home 8th after a fine drive. Si was up next and unfortunately had a problem coming home 13th.

Gary was up next starting 4th in the C, he and his Kyosho came home 9th. Nathan lined up 6th and still getting to grips with his new engine and car he was learning fast, he came home a brilliant 5th, narrowly missing the bump to the A. Jon just edged Nathan, his AE looked dialled, he jumped from 5th to 2nd and got the bump to the A in fine style.

Jon, Steve, Matt and Milan lined up for the A, nearly 1/3rd of the A final were team RCPB, great work guys! Matt, Steve and Jon would be battling it out on track, Jon Griffiths came out on top, and he took 9th place. Steve and his “Elliot Boots” edition Reds engine ended up 12th and Matt was 10th just 0.2 of a second behind Jon. A great race between the 3, brilliant, competitive and clean driving by all 3 guys! Milan was on another level, he drove an amazing race, he took the lead half way through the race and retained it, pulling out a lead of over 10seconds from the 2nd place man. Another win by him and the Team – so all in all RCPB took 3 wins in A finals out of 4 over the weekend!! Milan Pictured below with his Kyosho Mp9 Tki4.

As always all of the kit, cars, fuel and accessories are all available from RCPB. Next week we will be the shop will be trackside at the 1/8th Ralleycross national in Pembrey South Wales – but we have racers all over the UK. Check out the results in next weeks report. EAT-SLEEP-RACE-REPEAT!!!!
