Ebuggy National Finals and a Double Podium for RCPB

Posted by Jules exall on

This weekend was the last round of the Ebuggy/Truggy nationals at Slough. We had Chris Ely, Chris Lovell, George Miller and Ashley Evans. The track was in fantastic condition, freshly prepared and rolled and the line up although not full was very competitive.

The guys all had some solid qualifying results, and all started at the top end of the C final. Chris Lovell and his RC Concepts powered Mugen MBX7r Eco would line up 2nd, Ashley and his Mugen would be 3rd and Chris Ely 5th and George 8th. Chris Lovell took the lead early on overtaking Ashley for the top spot on lap 3, the pair continued to race very closely for the full time, and Chris L came home 2nd and Ash 3rd, both taking the bump. Chris Ely also had a good run, and he finished 5th. George and his Sworkz also had a fine run, he finally came home 7th.

In the B final Chris and Ash would be at the back of the grid but Chris Lovell despite being dead last came back through the field with a vengeance. He was flying, and took a very impressive 5th, narrowly missing another bump. Ash ended up 10th.

A great day for all the guys and a fantastic end to the season, Chris Lovell finished an impressive 18th in the series, Ashley 28th, George 31st, Steve Ibbotson 35th, Chris Ely 39th and Gary Gregory 41st. Awesome work from the E-buggy guys!

At Shrewsbury and the latest round of the summer series we had Matt Box, Milan Dragojlovic, Rich Price, Elliot Jones, Ben Billing, Steve Shakespeare, Kong McKenzie and Alex Page. The dusty track would prove tricky in the sunny conditions but the Team would have a great day.

After some tough qualifying Elliot got 32nd with his Sworks/Nova Rossi Combo, Alex and his mugen got 22nd, Ben 13th, Rich 12th, Kong 11th, Steve 8th, Matt 4th and Milan took the TQ. Milan was the only driver to get the 8 laps in so he would take some stopping in the finals.

Up first was Elliot, he was starting 8th on the grid and he would have an amazing start, he went on to take a very impressive 2nd, he would bump to the B final and join Ben and Alex in a very tough line up. Ben would start on pole but unfortunately after some bad luck, he returned to the pits early and finished 13th, Elliot just in front in 12th. Alex had a storming race, he went from 10th to an amazing third taking the bump to the A.

The A final would have 6 RCPB drivers, not bad from 15 drivers! Alex and his Mugen continued his great form going from the back of the grid to battle in the midfield with Rich, Steve and Kong. Unfortunately more retirements from Steve and his Kyosho and Rich with his Sworkz meant they finished 13th and 14th but Alex continued on to get 7th ahead of fellow Mugen driver Kong. At the front of the final were Matt and Milan with their Kyosho’s.  Matt’s Ielasi powered machine took the lead early and only a bit of bad luck meant he dropped to 3rd. Milan took over the lead from Matt and he was flying, his new Maxima MX B2R engine looked and sounded rapid. His fastest lap and average lap were incredible and he took a very impressive Win by a good margin. A double Podium for RCPB!

Great efforts by the whole team and some brilliant results! Many of the team will be racing again this weekend so stay tuned for more news. As always cars and kits used are all available from RCPB and the Ielasi and MX engines are exclusive to us so get in tough for more information or check the website for prices and availability.
