Valentines Days is just another Race Day for RCPB

Posted by Jules exall on

Valentine’s Day doesn’t stop the RCPB guys from Racing! Lots of racing, lots of places, lots of good results!

At a sunny Deerdale we had Rick “Kong” McKenzie debuting his MBX7R powered by his new RC Concepts engine. And it was a very good start with the new ride. Kong had a great days qualifying sticking it straight in the A final, being quicker than some of the UK’s best drivers, the new power unit never missing a beat all day. Kong started a great 7th in the final, and managed to make up a few places but decided to retire after having radio problems. A great start to the Season with his new Mugen. Kong is pictured below trackside with his new car!

At the Midland raceway, Felix de Hamel was racing his Schumacher 2wd and 4wd. His 4wd qualifying could not have gone better, he managed to take TQ and pole in the A final. He also had a storming lots of qualifying in 2wd managing 7th overall, in a pretty competitive line up!

Unfortunately in 4wd a spot of bad luck meant he had to retire but in 2wd he managed to take some decent places and finished a very fine 4th.

At Ledbury Model Car Club we had Matt Box, Alex Page, Simon White, Simeon White, Ben Billing, Simon Davies and Milan Dragojlovic for their club series. A very good turn-out and a great looking sunlit track meant the mini-pins may come out!

Matt box and his MP9 was the first to impress, sticking in a blinding round 2 of qualifying – managing a leads of 8 seconds for the rest of the guys to chase. Milan with his Kyosho and Ben with his Sworkz managed to better it in the next couple of rounds but it was going to be a 1-2-3 RCPB line up for the finals! Simon White managed a very good 7th overall, with Alex just behind in 8th so 5 RCPB in the A final again. Top works guys! Simon Davies managed a good B final position with 16th overall and Simeon only just behind him in 18th getting to the top end of the C final.

First up in the finals was Simeon and his MBX7r, and he was on fire, he managed a fine win of the C final and a bump into the B to join Simon Davies. Simon had a good start with his RR8 and continued with his steady run back with his old ride and came in 5th when the buzzer went. Simeon managed to finish the B final in 7th only just behind Simon. A very good drive by the both drivers!

Onto the A final and with all the RCPB guys showing real pace it was once again going to be a battle amongst the team for the podium places. Milan and his Ninja Engine flew off the line swiftly followed by Ben, and both managed to sustain the pace. Matt, Alex and Simon White were all battling in the midfield, all similarly paced; Matt managed to get back up to 5th when the buzzer went with Simon and Alex 7th and 8th respectively. At the front of the field, Ben couldn’t catch Milan who managed to take the win with some hugely impressive lap times with his new power unit – Great Job Milan on another win!!! Many thanks to Ledbury Model Car club for another great days racing! The A final podium pictured below, Milan, Ben and 3rd place Nathan Powney with his AE Truggy!

Great days racing for all the guys, all of their kit and cars are available from RCPB. If you can’t find what your looking for on the website please drop us a line – next week sees the return of the Nitro X Cross Series – so until then! Eat>Sleep>Race>Repeat!!!!!!
