More Winter Racing for RCPB

Posted by Jules exall on

This weekend saw the return of the popular Swindon club series, featuring Nitro buggys/Truggy’s and E-Buggy’s. RCPB were represented by Chris Lovell and his Mugen MBX7R Eco and in Nitro Ben Billing Running Sworkz Evo 2, Simon and Simeon running Mugen MBX7R, Andy Prosser with his Radiosistemi RR8 and Alex Page with his Kyosho MP9.

The track held up pretty well despite the typical January weather and Both Ben and Simon had really good qualifying rounds each taking a TQ in round, Ben managed it 2x and so took Pole in the A final for the end of the day. Alex also managed to get some good times in and 5th on the Grid in the A with Chris Lovell in his E-Buggy just behind him. Andy and Simeon had a fantastic days qualifying once again fighting it out but this week Andy came out on top with a very impressive 10th overall and Simeon a few places behind in 14th, both with a high place in the B final.

Onto the Finals and up first were Andy and Simeon. Simeon had a great race, fighting from 6th on the grid and finishing a place up in 5th. Each time he races he improves and will soon be showing the rest of us how it’s done. Great job Simeon! Andy was on Fire, the Bullet engine flying for the first couple of laps, and maintained a great pace through the 15mins, coming in 3rd overall! Andy’s RR8 Pictured below looking sweet, turning into a corner! Thanks to Darren at Drizzles RC Photos for the snaps of the buggies!

Next up was the A final, Ben sitting on Pole, with 3 of his team mates sitting behind. Ben and Simon had a great first lap, going over the line nearly level, and the battle continued on until Ben had a very rare problem and had to retire very uncharacteristically. Simon took advantage and then Chris and Alex got in on the action as well. All 3 battling it out for the podium places, Chris managed to negotiate the track and his competitors and finished a very fine 2nd behind Mark Hicks and his Truggy, Alex drove his MP9 to a great third and Simon finished right behind him in 4th.

Some great close racing had by all. Good jobs guys and good job Swindon for another great race meeting. Chris’s Mugen pictured below hunting down 1st place again thanks to Darren @ Drizzles RC Photos!

In other news at the Maritime Raceway RCPB Driver George Miller and his 4wd Sworks took a fantastic 6th place in the B final in their winter series, racing with some top drivers and placing very well. His car and final pictured below.

Overall another good weekend for the RCPB crew and as always all of the cars and kits the guys use is available from RC-Pit Box. See you all trackside again next week. EAT< SLEEP< RACE< REPEAT!
